Shadow Grid: Fortify Your Room With Traps and Hold it Against Infiltrators
How Shadow Grid works — intel briefing, room traps and stealth scoring in mixed reality or VR.
By AeternusVita
“How Shadow Grid works — intel briefing, room traps and stealth scoring in mixed reality or VR.”
Shadow Grid turns the room you are standing in into the level. You get an intel briefing, you fortify the space with traps and cover, and then you hold it when infiltrators breach through portals.
This guide explains what Shadow Grid is, how an operation plays out, and who it suits. It is listed as Coming soon on aeternusvita.io. You can get notified from the product page when it is ready.
What Shadow Grid is
The short description on Play says it in one line: "Fortify your room with traps, then face infiltrators in a headset." The subtitle is "Fortify the room, hold it".
Shadow Grid is a stealth action game for a VR headset. Each operation starts with an intel briefing. You then fortify the room with tripwires, sticky cams, shock mines and cover. In mixed reality that room is the one you are standing in. A VR mode plays the same operation inside the headset.
It is made by aeternusvita.io. The campaign is a series of these operations for one player. Nothing has been submitted to a store and no release date is set. The site lists it as Coming soon.
The Play copy lists six features:
- Intel briefing, then you fortify the room
- Tripwires, sticky cams, shock mines and cover
- Night vision, thermal view and silent takedowns
- A trap and gadget kit of more than twenty
- Weapon mods: barrels, scopes and ammo types
- A solo campaign, in mixed reality or in VR
How an operation works
Every operation follows the same loop: briefing, then fortify, then breach, then score, then mod and go again.
The briefing opens the operation. It tells you what is coming and where the pressure will be. You do not start by shooting. You start by reading the room and deciding where to place things.
Then you fortify. You place traps and cover in the space around you. In mixed reality you are working with your actual room. The walls, doorway and corners you know are the layout you defend. In VR the same operation is recreated inside the headset, so the loop does not depend on which mode you choose.
Then the infiltrators breach through portals that open into the room. Once they are through, where you put a tripwire or a shock mine matters, and where you placed cover matters because you need somewhere to hold, watch and move from.
A stealth score marks how the operation went. It reflects how quietly and cleanly you handled the breach, not just whether you finished. Between operations you change the weapons before the next briefing. Barrels, scopes and ammo types alter how a weapon behaves, and thirty mods are there to fit.
The fortify phase: traps and cover
The fortify phase sets the conditions before contact. That is what makes Shadow Grid different from a straight shooter.
The Play copy names four examples: tripwires, sticky cams, shock mines and cover. Tripwires watch a line. Sticky cams watch a spot. Shock mines punish a path. Cover gives you a place to hold and break line of sight.
The wider kit runs to more than twenty traps and gadgets. The listing does not name every piece, so this guide does not try to. The purpose of the kit is to let you shape a small space so that movement, sight and timing favour you. A good setup can slow infiltrators, show you where they are, and give you the choice to stay quiet or go loud.
Seeing in the dark
Not every breach happens in good light. Shadow Grid gives you two vision modes for low light: night vision and a thermal view. Both help you work in the dark by making infiltrators easier to see and track.
They pair with the quiet side of the kit. Gadgets and silent takedowns are there when you stay close. If you can position yourself and use cover well, you can keep noise down and keep your stealth score up. You do not have to play that way the whole time.
You can stay quiet or fight loud
Shadow Grid keeps both options open inside the same operation.
Silent takedowns are available when you stay close. They fit the stealth scoring. If you set traps well and use the vision modes to pick your moment, you can clear a breach with little noise and see it reflected in the score.
You can also fight loud. The listing is clear on this point: "You can also fight loud." That is not a failure state. It is a valid way to handle a breach when stealth slips or when you choose to meet infiltrators directly.
The stealth score does not block loud play. It marks how the operation went, so you can see what a quieter run looks like compared with a louder one.
Weapons between operations
Between operations you change the weapons. Barrels, scopes and ammo types alter how a weapon behaves. Thirty mods are there to fit across the campaign.
This step sits between operations, not inside them. You make the choice, fit what you want, and then take it into the next breach. A different barrel, scope or ammo type changes how the same weapon handles, which matters when the room layout and portal positions change.
Over a solo campaign that pattern repeats: brief, fortify, breach, score, then adjust the weapon before the next brief. The thirty mods are the set you work through as you learn which setups suit a quiet approach and which suit a loud one.
Mixed reality or VR
In mixed reality the room you fortify is the one you are standing in. In VR the same operation plays inside the headset.
Some players will want the feeling of defending their own space, with real walls as the reference. Others will prefer a consistent virtual room. The listing says both use the same operations, so you are picking how the room appears, not a different game.
The brief lists the targets as Meta Quest, Android XR and Web, with hosted builds for testing and no store submission yet. All versions are in development and Coming soon.
If you play in mixed reality, keep the usual safety steps for room-scale play. Clear enough space to move and keep guardian margins in mind. The PRD notes a seated option, vignette and snap turn among the comfort settings planned for the Quest builds.
Who Shadow Grid suits
Shadow Grid suits players who like preparation as much as action.
If you enjoy the part before contact — reading a briefing, placing a few well-chosen traps, putting cover where it helps most, and then seeing whether the plan holds when portals open — the loop will feel familiar. If you prefer to learn by doing, you can place a quick setup and adjust for the next operation.
The campaign is for one player. Each operation is self-contained with a briefing, a fortify phase, a breach and a stealth score, then a weapon change before the next one. That makes it easy to play in short sessions and to replay with a different layout or loadout.
The tone is stealth action with a stylised presentation. Night vision, thermal view and gadgets support quiet movement and silent takedowns at close range, but the game does not require silence every time. No age band is named in the listing, so no store rating has been assigned yet.
Coming soon: get notified
Shadow Grid is Coming soon. No release date, price, ratings or player counts are given yet because nothing has been submitted or released.
The best way to keep track is to open Shadow Grid on aeternusvita.io and use the notify option on that page. The listing there matches the Play copy used here: intel briefing, room fortification with tripwires, sticky cams, shock mines and cover, more than twenty traps and gadgets, night vision and thermal view, silent takedowns or loud defence, thirty weapon mods and a solo campaign in mixed reality or in VR.
You can also hold the short description in mind while you wait: "Fortify your room with traps, then face infiltrators in a headset."
Shadow Grid is made by aeternusvita.io. Take the briefing, set the traps, and meet the next breach.
